There is some confusion over what is meant by the term ‘health walker’. It can be loosely applied to all walkers but specifically here we are referring to a machine marketed by Sunny Health and Fitness.
Benefits of a health walker
in its simplest form, a health walker allows you to walk in your own home. There are obviously no uneven surfaces, no falls and no damage to your knees. The non-slip pedals provide a totally safe environment.
Does a health walker really work?
The health walker provides a complete body workout. Your arms get as much of a workout as your legs. This is an aerobic workout and 20 minutes will give you a cardio-respiratory workout
How to use a health walker
You stand upright on the machine, hold onto the handles and walk or run. By standing straight, you work the abdominal muscles. There is an adjustable abdominal pad to help with this. You can see your progress on the monitor in front of you.
Health walkers and weight loss
Regular walking is generally accepted as a necessary part of a weight loss plan. It is suggested that you try to do at least 20 minutes a day, having checked with a doctor. The great advantage is that you can do this exercise whatever the weather outside. The machine is suitable for anyone up to 220 pounds.
Health walkers for sale
Health walkers are available in all the usual major outlets or online. There is also a growing second hand market. Be careful about confusion with a similarly named piece of equipment – see below.
Health walker parts and accessories
Unlike an outdoor walker, there is little need for spare parts or accessories. There are spare parts such as nuts, bolts and screws but the product is solid and complete in itself
Health walker user feedback
Generally speaking, customers are very pleased with this. More than half would give it 5 stars. There are a few reported cases of the pedal breaking but this is very much the exception and we don’t know the background. People are pleased with way it can be folded up and that it’s suitable for all heights.
Beware of the Health Walker Plus and the T2000
This is an older machine that went out of production a couple of years ago. You can find plenty on offer on second-hand sites. While undoubtedly a good machine, it works differently to a Health Walker. You have to coordinate tHe movement of your left hand with your right leg, like with a cross-trainer. It is an excellent machine but much harder to use. You will also find this listed as the health walker plus t2000
